Oh it sucked for sure, I kept getting interrupted which meant whatever crate I was counting at the time had to be started over.

But the biggest perk was not having to deal with the other idiots on our loading dock for the entire time I was counting.

Though I've joked about it in the past I really should get a shirt that says "I'm trying to focus on my job, please don't distract me" or something like that.

Yesterday I literally had to count 14 thousand pounds of fire extinguishers (as in count each extinguisher in a bunch of crates), one of my coworkers came over and said "Why don't you just use AI to count them." They then pulled out their phone, took a picture, asked AI to count them, and was off buy almost 60% on the first crate. Then went "oh, well that's just one example,"

They then tried 4 more times, being between 75% and 50% off each time. They then went "Oh, well, ummm, nevermind." and wandered off again.

(I had to count the extinguishers to make a Bill of Lading for them for shipping them out, you need an accurate count otherwise it will be held by the shipping company until you provide a correct BoL with the correct count due to legal reasons. I couldn't just weigh them and divide the total wieght by the weight of a single extinguisher as they were a bunch of different sizes mixed together. NGL it was the easiest money I've ever made at the at job.)

It would literally be illegal for me due to the only road being an interstate bridge during part of my commute, not to mention riding at night on winding roads with no shoulder (blind corners abound) with speed limits of 50+ mph due to my work hours. And of course some roads that have a bike lane (rare in my neck of the woods but improving), it's illegal in my state to ride any vehicle with a motor (yes even electric motors) in the bike lane. So I'd have to ride in traffic on a bike on aforementioned roads.

I'm not saying other people shouldn't try to ride bikes or ebikes to work, I'm just saying for me that it's not possible.

Depends greatly on the state (and in some cases city too) you live in but many have speed limits on them of 25mph (among many other restrictions based on motor wattage breaking them into classes). Any faster, pedals or not, it's considered an electric motorcycle with all the restrictions that apply there.

But the biggest issue is the lack of cycling infrastructure in general. A shitton of the US has little support for that kind of transport, or any support for those not in cars.

And there's legal restrictions on what kinds of roads you can ride on as well.

It's a headache.

Oh I wish I could but my local infrastructure ain't human centered, it's car centered.

I may only be 13 miles from where I work but with roads near me being 50+mph with no shoulder or streetlights

The tools to see the faults yes, we need to drive to take the steps to build the world we wish to live in.

But without the tools to see it's faults we could never build a better tomorrow.

But hey, at least we're harder to mislead and we understand the media we consume better.

Yeah I can wear my flowy showy shirts and pants during the summer.

But I can't wear my turtlenecks, scarves, or snugly jackets. Not to mention that sitting under a nice hearty blanket sipping cocoa on a crisp evening.

The summer I can chill in the shade of trees sipping iced tea though which is also hella nice.

Both have perks and draw backs.
