Users with local non-AD connected systems (which bypass GPOs)

Found your problem. Nothing to do with Linux/WSL.

Windows ~~that~~ needs the Ol' Yeller treatment.

That would officially be WW3, and it wouldn't go well for the US.

Pretty much the entire world either dislikes or outright hates the US right now, and that's not going to change anytime soon. There's far more positive sentiment towards China around the world than towards the US.

this type of bullshit is common across the repair industry

No it isn't. Most independent repair shops actually know what they're doing and care about customer satisfaction.

This only happens at "corporate" repair places, just like BestBuy.

Yes, that exact thing was the crux of a major lawsuit at one point.

Dodge must be pretty happy.

And yes, that's a security liability

Hardly. If anything it's a benefit to security. You don't have to run all the secret stuff using FOSS stuff. Just anything that runs the hardware (like the OS itself).

it is false. it is not uploading a photo of yourself that makes this a bad thing.

You still don't seem to understand. I'll try to explain it more simply:

If you've uploaded a photo of yourself with PII data (eg. your name), then that information can be scraped and used by ethically void companies (most of them) to build a database with your information on it. All without your knowledge or consent.

the major part that makes it bad that these systems are recording, and uploading data

Irrelevant to the point I was making, and it doesn't falsify or contradict anything I've said.
