This is why I drink gin and tonic. A proven prophylactic against malaria. The worst killer disease the world has ever known. So I can't be an alcoholic.
One can't be too careful you know.

You were lucky. What would have you done if you couldn't prove you no longer had possession of the car? If they had ticketed the driver directly, none of that could have happened to you. There would have been nothing for you to prove. This is why the state I live in has had that law requiring ticketing the actual driver and not the car decades before traffic cameras were even a thing.
And since there are no self driving cars that can be commonly found on the roads today, that's a silly idea. And IF that time ever comes, someone is still going to need to be liable for that self driving car as it goes down the road. That software is going to be so locked down it must follow all laws without exception. Because the company will hold the liability.
You what really works? Having a law on the books that plainly states the "the driver must be ticketed". And NOT the vehicle. So unless they pull the car over and hand the ticket to whoever is driving, they can't use cameras for that purpose.
The Rock is still a thing too
Don't forget the flexi-snakes. So many flexi-snakes. Fidget toys still seem pretty popular after all these years too.
Since I've been Windows free for several decades now, I will hard agree with you that running your favorite distro is the Way^tm^ But I like I said, I'm under no illusions that my old hardware has a life span. Like me, someday it's going to die and not even running Arch can fix it. And if there are no old affordable parts or whole computers, what then?
That's the kind of bridge you need to plan on crossing long before you get there.
It's like driving a big truck. You get to the bridge and the sign says 5 ton(ne) weight limit and you're driving a 40 ton(ne) truck. And there is a line of cars behind you that stretches to the horizon. You can't turn around now. What are you going to do?
Old hardware is old. It will die eventually, and at some point there will be no more old hardware. Then what?
Look at the long game. Installing a Linux distro is great. But what happens when your GPU/CPU/SSD dies and you can't afford or buy replacements?
They got more time and can afford to wait us out.
I don't. If they can't read or spell, fuck 'em. I have no interest in talking to stupid people. Nor am I interested in stupid people that have no interest in continuing to learn and try new things. There are a surprising number of adults that refuse to do so.
Even that doesn't always work. There is one channel I know of that got auto banned despite using live shots of everyone doing live introductions of their stories.
Court is time consuming and expensive. You lose a day's wages, you get probably get fined anyway, and you may also need to pay a lawyer and court costs. So you assume everyone can afford that? White or Black?
It must be nice to have that extra money.
