Yes, includes contracts and consultancies.

US based, companies between 50 people all the way up to thousands.

HR generally was all about buzz words on the resume because they generally didn't know what half the stuff meant. The engineers typically wanted a team player, someone who could grind, someone who could just get features / tickets done and multitude of contributions or projects on GitHub always screamed "bounces around between multiple things and never focuses on just one thing and needs to feel constant movement" - which could mean a flight risk.

In some 20ish years of being in the software engineering field across healthcare, legal, finance, real estate or otherwise and startups all the way up to fortune 250s and across 30+ jobs, contracts, etc - not once has anybody given a shit about github links or contributions to a repo. Heck, at some places we've rejected candidates for focusing too much on that because it comes off as tryhard and high-maintenance.

Any reputable orgs I can donate to for assisting the cause? I just don't feel I have the means otherwise to make a dent in the buying and preservation.

Guess I'm injecting metal into my exterior walls and lining my blinds with tin foil

What if you just use it as a pass through by plugging it into their router and then wrap theirs in foil?

As an Asian, I had similar issues when renewing my passport.

A company here or there may illegally do it, but on the whole, it is illegal, it is generally traceable, and it is not what many of the megacorps typically do.

If they do and you have proof, get a class action lawsuit going, you will win.

Also you can legally claim the round-up donation as a deduction on your taxes.

This is provably false, please stop spreading this lie.

The problem is he and others have cashed out at the expense of retirement portfolios.
