ABS was the last good life-saving technology added to cars. That thing saved my dumb arse several times already.
Now I want to get a new car because the old one is getting too degraded, but I dread the fuckery I'll find in new models. I just wanted a 3.5 cm audio jack and simple controls. I guess I won't have much luck.
I cut my teeth on a '93 Geo Metro. Approximately 30 lbs wet, not weighed down by things like an automatic transmission or air bags or a tachometer. Had to learn the car's language, listen when she told me to shift gears. God I miss that little toy car

My 05 civic with no safety features because I simply can't afford a new car.
None of my hyundai safety features are turned off. Some of these complaints I'm reading in the comments do happen but infrequently and it's never been something I needed to wrestle with the car to correct. 🤷
As in, the correction is so light that you can overpower it with a single finger
I think Hyundai/Kia have relatively unintrusive driver assistance systems (so far).
I've driven a VW Golf that almost got me killed when the "smart" cruise control slammed on the brakes to "avoid" a car in the turning lane and a mate drives an Amarok that nags him to rest every few minutes because it doesn't like the shape of his eyes.

This driver wouldn't touch a car that had this shit in it.
I deliberately sought out a car without that stuff when I had to buy a new(er) car recently. It's usually quite annoying - the worst was a rental car that had an alarm buzz whenever I activated my turn signal while there was another car anywhere near my blind spot.
IMO the only technological improvement from the last decade and a half that's worth having is a backup camera, and that's only because I must shamefully confess to being terrible at parallel parking without one despite having years of practice. (I was tempted to buy a Miata since they still have real dials, but ultimately I did settle for a car with a digital display instead of an instrument panel.)
The reverse camera is useful so you're not backing over some little kid. Anything else it does is a bonus.

I am 54, so not a boomer, but I've been driving me entire adulthood with any of this crap on my car. I think I know how to drive without it. My client car is a 2005. So no I don't need any of it I turn out all of in rental cars too. I hate it
Most of this tech is way to intrusive, and a good chunk of drivers have become to reliant on it in some cases.
Hell, I know people that have no idea how to reverse a car if it does not have a rear view camera. Completely forgot how mirror functioned, and this goes for both older folks and the younger drivers.
