More than one teacher in high school told me I should appreciate my time there because I'll spend the rest of my life missing my time there. I told them if this is what I'll be pining for in the future then I don't see any reason to last that long.

Now in my 30s, I check every day against what my life was at that time. My life has only ever gotten better. Even on the verge of a fascist hell

My childhood, teens, 20s, even a decent chunk of 30s sucked. I don't grieve my youth in the "my best years are behind me" way, but in a "I never had a youth" way. 40s are pretty good though.

I am so grateful that I miss being a kid. My life was basically awesome until I was 18. Then it was shit until I was 32ish and now it's been getting better every year since.
