I can only assume it's awesome to work there because every worker badge I see says they've been there since the aughts.

Costco is considered one of the best places to work in America. Literally one of the highest job satisfaction rates in business.

They pay decently, offer good benefits, and treat their employees decently, and respectfully. So people stick around, that's why they put their length of service on their name tags. It's smart brand marketing, and it worked on you exactly like it's supposed to.

Imagine a company recognizing that treating your employees well, might actually be good for business?
