MODERATORS

Over the past year, marginalised communities, including LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, have reported a growing wave of account suspensions, removals and restrictions from Meta’s moderation systems.

There are no specific laws in place to deter big tech from their behaviour, nor its there a dedicated independent body with the power to investigate patterns of censorship

Any disinterested investigation led by a government arm will show that much of the activity is done at the behest of government. You test out new control schemes on marginlized groups first, then tweak, before rollout to genpop. That's the standard template.

The solution is never more grey suits with KPIs and more legislation (unless rights are being consitutionally enshrined). The solution is to get smaller and more distributed.
