If you re-record a VHS tape once, it’ll probably look just as good as the first recording.
If you reuse the same tape over and over again it starts to get wonky.
I once watched this video where they continued copying vhs from the previous version

What a great video! I guess that's why we used to keep a "Master Copy" that was never played, other than when it was being duplicated.
