this is true just in general even ignoring AI.

When you make a mistake, the boss is hard on your heels, if the mistake is found to be on the bosses part, magically it's no longer a mission critical mistake.

Similarly, if you make a mistake while disliked you are clearly incompetent and need to be punished, but a mistake while liked is only human.

The alternative being: if the boss makes a mistake, it's still your fault and you must fix it ASAP or you'll be fired one way or another.
