I'll try to summarise from memory and my knowledge from a couple of posts, but details might be wrong since I've not done a deep dive into this. I'm not going to go looking for links and references, because who has the time?

There was a frontend for Lemmy called Tesseract (a frontend is a different interface for the Lemmy site. For example, I use Alexandtrie and think this is the best interface in browser if you want to see what a frontend looks like). Anyway, it came to light that the dev for Tesseract had covertly added a blacklist to the frontend. He then wrote a long rant about how there's propoganda and unpleasantness on Lemmy and he's trying to protect his users from this. In reality he basically described how he wants to block anyone who isn't agreeable with his opinion, expresses leftist opinions, supports LGBTQ+ rights, etc. So people have taken it as a badge of honour in being on the list and are making it a mockery of Tesseract. The dev has taken down the Github page for Tesseract (although I think someone forked it first and removed the blacklist). So now people are flooding Lemmy with memes about being on the list and hating on Tesseract. It's all fun and games, but as with all things with social media trends, it will likely start getting boring as you come across a lot of this on your feed.

I’m on the list and the only “propaganda” I’ve spread is a willingness to end fascist lives, which hardly seems controversial to me. I mean, typically you shoot fascists, don’t you?

That stuff got me banned on reddit over several accounts. They are vicious.
