How much is it telling others not to have fun, and how much is just expressing disappointment? Not everything is a contest on how much we can sway someone to our side, sometimes we just want to express how something could be better.
Not everyone has fun buying the same thing over and over again while most anything new and original languishes in development hell.
The one that inspired this post was about the free remaster to Witcher 3. Free.
Disappointment is when you're sad because you were expecting or hoping for something and didn't get it.
So if you've somehow picked up Black Ops 6 as the first CoD game and were sad that Black Ops 7 was basically the same, that would be disappointment. If instead the last Call of Duty game you played was the original Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 and have since never played the series because you realised in 2011 that the series wasn't really evolving, I think it would be misleading to call it "disappointment" that Black Ops 7 is not much different from 6.
At that point I think you're not really disappointed, and are just criticising something that you don't like. And of course, criticising stuff you don't like is not automatically bad, but it becomes something different. And in this case often the criticism could be well voiced as "I don't play these games because I played one in 2009 and look for new experiences" rather than "these games are bad because they don't offer new experiences compared to 2009".
But surely this isn't how you feel? If I had 100,000 hours to play games I think I'd have 1,000,000 hours of games to try to cram in. There are so many good, original games.
Not everyone enjoys every type of game, either. Just because theres millions of hours of gameplay available doesnt mean that those hours would be worth trading in.
Personally I'm not a fan of how some games want to add conflict to gameplay that had no need of it. Sometimes i just want to have fun building through an interesting automation game without having some random alien horde messing everything up.
