If we ever build an AI that can think and feel, does Optimus’s logic apply to it automatically? Or is Megatron secretly onto something, that freedom has to be earned rather than assumed? And if an LLM ever crossed that line into real sentience, would we even be able to tell?

Kind of a rant but I'm wondering what the rationale is here. The iPhone was announced in 2007 and released the same year, and one of the big selling points was that, unlike some Java browsers in flip phones and some smartphones (e.g. BlackBerry, Windows Phone), you could view standard web pages on it. The original iPhone was like 3.5" on the screen. Today, iPhones go up to 6.9" on the Pro Max models, with an 8" foldable coming next month. Android phones have topped 7" a couple times, and have foldables that reach 10" (more?).

Note: Not an iPhone-specific issue. I'm almost certain that every Android phone released since they debuted in 2008 has also been able to view the full Internet.

Some sites offer a legacy feature called mobile links. YouTube, IMDb, Wikipedia, and others will serve you a mobile link if you add "m." to the URL in place of "www.". This isn't smart, and it will redirect even desktop users on 32" monitors to the mobile site. However, the main site is usually smart about this, and if you link the main site and someone tries to view it on one of those old Java web browsers, it will redirect to the mobile view.

So... why do people redirect to mobile in 2026? Are they just the kind of mouth-breathers who pee everywhere in a public restroom but the actual toilet bowl? Or is there a reason they want everyone else to see the Internet as it appeared on the original Motorola RAZR?
