it already requires being loggd in for about 2 weeks
Edit: the post title is also wrong. the interface is still available. you just need to be logged in
old.reddit.com has worked fine here for the past couple of weeks.

maybe it was rolled out slowly over multiple regions. But it definitely started end of july. even the arstechnica post itself is alrady a week old
This is it exactly. It was hit or miss for a few weeks for me, some vpns would get the login some wouldn't. Some subreddits would get the login, but comments wouldn't.
Now it seems its all login all the time.
