Oh, that's hilarious.
Not only are data centres a legitimate target due to being used by the military, they're also a relatively small building filled with very valuable, very fragile equipment. So, if you want to cause significant problems for your enemy, they just make sense as a target.
Relatively small compared to? A new data centre being built here is the size of 5 shopping centers
For the value of the equipment inside, and how important they are to an economy, they're very compact.
