I wonder if it will be possible to have antique cars from this period on. With all of the software in them they'd have to release the source code or decompile it to keep them on the road.

Sure. The shell and possibly drivetrain will be original, and the electronics will be replaced. Just like all those kits to make electric vw buses (though they will still run just gine on gasoline. l
