I feel like it'd be a lot more interesting if they used more random non standard characts like ß, æ, œ for example.
Œ and ẞ are very standard in French and German. Both at the same time if you travel to Alsace-Lorraine.
English should be reformed with diacritics, full stop.
Very standard in French? I struggle to remember seeing either.
Œuf, bœuf par exemple
Maybe in history books but not in any grocery store I've been to.
