I've read through just out of curiosity. The severance package is:
Is this common in the US? This really feels like nothing. I do not know whether there are other remunerations funded by the government, but 4 months of pay after being laid off really is not very much.
Is this company paying out a very small sum to their employees or is it common to give very little money to fired people?
That is a lot more than a lot of people get. Especially the healthcare and laptop thing. Healthcare usually ends immediately and you don't get any gifts on the way out.
Clarification, healthcare usually lasts till the end of the month, because that’s what already been paid for.
