Canon cameras are the same for GPS data. Their app sucks and is barely functional that I don't bother. Half of the time it would fail to connect or fail to transfer pictures from the camera to the phone. A USB-C to SD card adapter is 100% reliable. I hate technology sometimes.

At least you can download lantern and unlock done stuff.

Unfortunately it seems to be mostly for older DSLR cameras, mine is a newer entry level mirrorless. The project does seem pretty awesome though.

That's too bad. I wish framework makes DSLR and use open source firmware.
