That tracks.
The more I learn about American history the more frustrated I become with our species in general. Our country could be so much more livable now, but for a handful of vulgarly wealthy people who only ever cared about number going up at any cost.
And to make it worse I'm reading a biography of John D. Rockefeller, so I'm about to hate our species just a tiny bit more.
While you're in that mood check the documentary Hypernormalization from BBC. Explains a lot.
