The story and headline are pushing a narrative that hides what is happening.

The FTC made sure we didn't call it "surveillance pricing" and shifted from prevention to disclosure.

I didn't get that it's hiding anything. says it right there in the blurb:

The agency said it cannot ban personalized pricing under its current authority, but it will pursue enforcement action against companies that fail to meet its disclosure requirements.

Unless I'm missing something, I understood that to mean exactly what you said.

It's even right in the dek: Businesses must disclose if they use consumer data to set individual prices.

Did they even read the article?
