I have FP6 /e/OS since last November. In begining I noticed issues with battery usage but the issues are resolved now. Banking works for me. And that is pretty much it. I like not having spyware in my pocket, nice feeling :)
You probably aren't safe from Pegasus but at least you are not streaming your location and IRL contacts to Google 24/7.

Your personal purchasing power could be very different than the CPI. Also I think people put more importance on the basics like food and housing, those are surely 100% more expensive than 13 years ago. And with that going up you don't really care that you can afford more t-shirts. But t-shirts are bringing down the CPI.
